The Majestic Ocean

The ocean is a magical place, full of unseen beautiful fishes in all colors and sizes, different species of dolphins, jelly fish, sea horses, barracuda, sea centipedes, sea snails, star fish, squids, crabs, sea snakes, eels, sting rays and amazing colorful coral. I would know, for as a youngster I remember my brother and I spending hours at a time, scuba diving beneath the depths of the surface, exploring the underworld of the ocean. What a sight to behold! Eyes wide open for me not to miss a thing, I swam off the coast of Barbados, Jamaica, St.Lucia, Martinique and Dominica. I remember the beautiful spectacles all to well.
I remember swimming among schools of the most gorgeous fish you would ever lay your eyes on, off the coast of Dominica. I remember touching those fish and watching them scurry away in fear. I remember seeing massive electric eels peeping out of the crevices of the rocks. I remember  riding on the backs of the majestic dolphins of Martinique, with not a fear in the world! How smart they are, these animals. Way smarter than I could have ever imagined! They would carry me for hours, bobbing and weaving, zigging and zagging, jumping and splashing! Their skin as smooth as silk. Occasionally, I would reward them with a fish or two.  They loved it and me! They all gathered around and sang their dolphin song, only they understood and did their dolphin dance only they knew. They came together in an upright manner under water, and swirled around each other, gave a little kiss and backed away in a backflip motion, and swam around and came back together. It was so very amusing to me. For you see never before had I been in such close proximity to such beautiful animals.
Once tired of that I would let go and dove deeper. There I mingled with sea turtles. Such majestic creatures. They swam merrily along, undeterred by our presence, in search of their food. They to allowed us to ride on their backs, much to my surprise. I was more than elated, and merrily let them take me where ever they desired. What fun I used to have. My brother and I took turns riding the turtles like there was no tomorrow! Not everyday you get to see live sea turtles! We also got to observe them as they hunted for fish, so slow and methodical as to not miss one. What a sight!
In the corner of my eye I remember seeing  long blue barracudas motionlessly drifting with the tide, a school of sea horses bobbing around aimlessly it appeared to me, and the most amazing blinking multicolored jelly fish I have ever seen. I remember thinking there’s a whole new world under here as I stared into the distance! Glancing below me I spotted some sea centipedes, some sea snails, and even a squid, lounging out on the coral. What a treat!
I loved every moment of it! Never before had I been so happy ever in my life. At that moment, all my problems were put on hold, it’s like nothing else mattered but just swimming with the sea creatures. There was peace and tranquility for once in my life! The more I swam the more I felt at ease with myself. Do you know how amazing that felt? Freeing yourself from the stresses of life for that brief moment you are submerged. Can you for even a minute begin to imagine how therapeutic that felt? Well let me tell you, no activity in this world can fill you with this great feeling of total relaxation!
Don’t take my word for it? Try it sometime!

D’arcy M’gees Irish Pub

articles googleplus 13pinterest 21facebook 7twitter 16                    shop-online-button-300x279  Contact-me-button-3  HomeButton   Photo-50

Nestled in the heart of downtown Ottawa, is the most magnificent restaurant I have had the fortune of visiting. Great is an understatement. For you see at the entrance you are greeted by a multitude of cheerful, happy go lucky, pockets loaded, customers, eating and laughing till their hearts content all around the front, capturing your attention from blocks away! On entering the restaurant, you are escorted by the friendliest staff ever imaginable up a flight of stairs. While walking you can’t help but notice a grand bar supplied with all sorts of drinks imaginable. These waiters are so beautiful, well trained and Photo-51ready to attend to your every need! You are never left unattended to! The floor is patterned with a sort of irish design unknown to me, but gives the place a sort of chinese feel to it, mind you it is an irish pub! The chairs are of a wooden texture, not to modern looking, but fancy none the less. The restaurant was well lit with massive chandeliers  strategically placed around the bar. The walls were of an unfamiliar design, much like that of a church. They were wooden, with stained glass patterns in between. A sight to behold. Never before have I ever seen walls like those before in any restaurant in all my travels! It was spectacular. I could not help but stare them down multitudes of times. The craftsmanship is amazing.

Let me get to the cuisine

The menu was full with the most amazing looking foods ever! The waiter gently placed three menus on my table. Now by this time my eyes were open wide, ready to jump out of my head, for you see I have never been to a restaurant where I was given three menus. I hastily dove into them, only to quickly realize, they were not all main course menus, but, wine menus, main course and dessert menus. I was relieved. “How was I ever going to decided?,” was my initial thought.
I did not get a chance to sample all of them today, but i did sample the prime rib burger.

It was the most delicious, mouth watering, scrumptious meal ever!

It is definitely a must have! The rib is chunky, and oozing with flavor! The burger is accompanied with a bowl of fries. The biggest chunkiest fries ever,
Photo-49drizzled with some ketchup makes for an excellent lunch! This could be accompanied with a beverage of your choice! I choose to stay sober this afternoon, and had a refreshing sprite. Which went well with the whole meal, I must say! Compliments to the chef, for delighting my taste buds with such savory food!
All in all this was a good buy! Looking for a great place to relax and dine, this is the place! Great people, great service, delicious meals, what more can you ask for. Make your way down to the D’arcy M’gees Irish Pub, located at 44 Sparks Street, Ottawa, and eat till your hearts content!

How to Be a Better Kisser

articles googleplus 13pinterest 21facebook 7twitter 16                  shop-online-button-300x279  Contact-me-button-3  HomeButton     1_kissing-is-good-for-you

I’m sure most of you guys out there must be saying, I don’t need any tips on how to be a good kisser, I’m the best already, but thats where you are wrong! For you to be the best, you have to first know what you are doing! For even a blind man can eat, but does he know what he is eating? Will you call him the best eater? That is exactly the same concept with kissing. I know you may believe it is the easiest activity out there, but in actuality, a lot of preparation has to be undertaken. That is why I have taken the liberty of listing those preparations. My tips on how to be a better kisser is for your betterment, your personal development and to ensure that you don’t get publicly humiliated. No one wants that to happen, now do they?  You need to perfect the art, and I shall help you!
With that said I shall begin. Kissing should be an enjoyable activityThe more relaxed and confident you feel, the better your kisses will be. Try to always be fully present, and involved in what’s going on! If you are distracted or overly nervous, it will be harder to deliver  a passionate kiss. The objective is to always deliver the most passionate kiss you have ever in life. For this to happen you must always try to ensure you and your partner are comfortable. You must always keep your lips well hydrated and you must exfoliate your lips often using a toothbrush. You must also prepare your lips. This involves keeping your lips relaxed and slightly open. This lets your partner know that you are ready for a kiss. Try to avoid puckering up. I know this is what is portrayed in movies, but puckering only sends the wrong message, and makes kissing physically difficult. Tackle dryness with chapstick or by licking your lips slightly. For the women, try using lipgloss or flavored chapstick. This makes your lips irresistibly soft, shinny, and tasty. It is always advisable to freshen your breath before every and any kiss. The importance of good oral hygiene cannot be underestimated when it comes to kissing. Bad breath is the worst kind of turn-off. To avoid this always remember to floss and brush your teeth before your date and keep a small packet of mints on your person throughout the evening, so you can quickly pop one in your mouth as soon as things start to heat up! If you are going on a dinner date, stay away from pungent or malodorous food. Avoid things like cheese, fish, raw onions, or anything heavy on garlic. Now this part is very important. For you and your partner to even begin kissing, both you guys must be on the same page and aware of what’s going on. For this to take place you must set the mood. This involves maintaining eye contact, smiling and imagining you guys are already in the act of kissing. Some people get so nervous before the first kiss with a new partner that they end up talking too much in order to fill the silence. Avoid doing this as it could ruin the moment and make your partner lose interest. If you are in the middle of a conversation, but want to be kissing instead, simply slow it down, and lower your voice slightly to signal to your partner that you are ready to stop talking. Now if after you have tried all the above tips, and your partner still does not realize by now, don’t give up, I still got a few tips up my sleeve to help you. This next tip is sure to have your partner get the picture. Now when you are ready, and you have decided that the time is right, slowly take a step closer to your partner and lean in. Once close enough, you can do something intimate like touching your partner’s face or brushing the hair out of their eyes right before you lean in, to turn up the romance. At every point remember you must maintain eye contact to determine whether to tilt your head to the left or to the right. Remember to move your head in the opposite direction to your partner’s. You should also tilt your head back slightly and point your lips and chin forward to avoid banging your foreheads together.
By this point, if your partner really likes you and style, they should realize what you have been thinking. The kiss should be magical and enjoyable if you follow all my tips word for word, no worries. Thats how you kiss like the best of them! Now you are ready and know how to kiss, go out there and enjoy some passionate kissing!

Typhoon Haiyan – The She Devil!

articles googleplus 13pinterest 21facebook 7twitter 16                    shop-online-button-300x279  Contact-me-button-3  HomeButton     Typhoon Haiyan pic_Nov_7_2013_1345Z

Did you hear about the most catastrophic typhoon to hit southeast Asia? If not, well here’s the latest! Typhoon Haiyan was a ferocious one! She came in on November 2nd 2013, with winds of 230km/h (145-mph)! The highest ever recorded for any typhoon at any particular time! Let me tell you my readers, that was some heavy wind! She meant business! Knocking down sky scrappers, Tearing apart houses, that was just her getting started! I mean she could not be ferocious if she was not causing mass destruction, now could she? She did everything. She thrashed about cars, and trucks, and animals! She was relentless! She burnt down apartments, destroyed offices, schools, courts! She left thousands broke and homeless after she passed by! She downed electrical lines and tress! She was catastrophic! It seemed like nothing would have stopped her! She was a restless one to. She jumped from country to country, much like prostitutes do, causing mayhem and devastation.
On landing in the Philippines, officials didn’t know what to do with her. How can you handle such a ferocious typhoon? Officials urged everyone to stay indoors, buy lots of canned foods and water, batteries, food that lasts, but alas, it was all in vein. For despite all their cautioning Typhoon Haiyan completely Typhoon_Haiyan_2013_making_landfallwipped out 6,268 persons in that country alone. Tragic I know! Picture the catastrophe and anguish that must have caused. That did not make her feel better, nope! She keep charging on! Getting stronger and stronger the more mayhem she caused. It gets worse, she continues on her merry way to Leyte where she caused calamitous damage! She flattened many of the large towns in a rage, and took 6300 souls along with her,  5,877 of which were taken from Eastern Visayas. Now that’s beast. By this time she was on every radar on the continent. Everyone knew she meant business now! She thus moves onto Surigao City! She now decides to change up her means of destruction in her arsenal. On arriving Surigao City, she announces her arrival accompanied by 15-19 ft waves. What a welcome she had indeed. Her stay will forever be remembered. How could they ever forget her after immediately tearing down the terminal building in the Tacloban Airport. That’s highly unlikely. That wasn’t good enough for typhoon haiyan. Oh no, she continues on to cause wide spread devastation in Talcoban City! Taking the innocent inhabitants by surprise. Terrible way to go! Thats even worst than your girlfriend having sex with another man. Wow. She terrorized the poor Talcoban people. She caused floods, drownings, piled cars high up one on top the other, caused high fractures in buildings, even flattened some, she destroyed low-lying areas, no one was safe when she was around in other words. She ensured that.
Once done terrorizing the Philippines, she flies on over to China and Taiwan. There she will have lots of fun. She decides to hit them where it hurts! She goes for their pockets, amounting damages in the millions! When I say millions I mean millions. The calculated destruction costs in Hainan amounted to  ¥4.9 billion (US$803 million)! Eye opener isn’t it? Approximately 3,500 people across 20 villages were isolated due to extensive flooding. Destruction costs in Guangxi amounted to ¥275 million (US$45 million)! She hit them hard! Approximately 900 homes and 25,500 hectares of crops were destroyed, while 8,500 homes were damaged! Thats brutal!
Don’t even ask for Vietnam. They were downsized by the storm. All their assets wiped away, all their liabilities, destroyed, houses, burned, people killed and terror filled the hearts of many. Typhoon haiyan caused provences like Aklan, Capiz, Cebu, Iloilo, Leyte, Palawan, and Samar, to be placed under a state of national calamity! Farless for Vietnam. It was brutal!
Typhoon haiyan caused wide spread destruction. Never before had these provinces ever experienced anything like that. She brought about looting and violence, she caused environmental problems, billions of dollars in damages, poverty, millions to be left homeless, trauma to those who lost a loved one, a humanitarian crisis and a whole heap of trouble. Luckily we live in a society where no matter the colour of your skin no one gets left behind. Meaning, when the United States hears of this crisis, they will immediately send out troops and funds to assist. As soon as they contribute everyone else begins to assist. I have taken the liberty of getting the summary of international relief efforts in the Philippines following the typhoon to prove my point.

Extensive assistance is being provided by the red cross!
On viewing the table I hope you realize the extensive amount of damage the typhoon has done. Seeing as an extensive amount of money is needed to be donated, in order to restore suitable living conditions. Lots had to be done. Celebrities from all over began pitching in where they could. Celebrities like the American band Journey donated $350,000 to help relief efforts in the Philippines, and its lead singer had a message for his homeland: “Don’t Stop Believin'”. Arnel Pineda (the band’s Filipino vocalist) and the rest of the band announced the donation on November 15, 2013. It will go to the United Nations World Food Programme, which is providing Filipinos with food assistance. The donation should provide 1.4 million meals. IkeaWalmartSamsung, and HSBC are among those taking advantage of the event to donate to those in need. Northwestern Mutual announced they will donate $100,000 to the American Red Cross. The Coca-Cola Company says they have donated $2.5 million of their advertising budget to the relief efforts as of November 25. By mid-December FIFA donated $1 million. DHL deployed its Asia Pacific Disaster Response Team to the disaster areas to provide on-the-ground logistics support to assist with the relief effort in the aftermath of the devastating Typhoon Haiyan. Three rotating teams made up of volunteer employees from the Asia Pacific region were based at the Mactan Cebu Airport on Cebu island, providing support and assistance to the country’s most affected areas west of Leyte Island, including Guiuan, Roxas, and Tacloban city.
Major League Baseball donated $200,000 to UNICEF and the American Red Cross, with Commissioner Bud Selig encouraging fans to donate to the organizations. UNICEF delivered portable toilets and hygiene supplies to the region and also appealed for $34 million to help the four million children affected. The American Red Cross announced that they collected $11 million in donations for the Philippines Relief Fund. Mercy Corps dispatched a “emergency response” team to help with humanitarian efforts.
Among the NGO responses, among the most comprehensive disaster response came from the Taiwan-based “Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation”., which organized a large-scale cash-for-work program in Tacloban from Nov 20 to Dec 8 with up to 31,000 participants per day, totaling nearly 300,000 day shifts. This operation not only helped clean out the thousands of tons of debris covering the city, but also kick-started the local economy. Tzu Chi also contributed emergency cash aid of 8000, 12000 or 15000 pesos depending on family size for over 60,000 families in the affected areas of Tacloban, Ormoc, Palo, Tanauan and Tunga, and has been providing free clinics, hot meals, and temporary class rooms for over 15 schools in the area. Doctors Without Borders is sending 200 tons of aid. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness‘s Food For Life Global, the world’s largest vegan food relief organisation, raised money and provided vegan meals in the Philippines to Typhoon Haiyan survivors. Other NGOs run by faith-based organisations that raised money and/or aided in the disaster relief efforts of Typhoon Haiyan included Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), LDS Philanthropies, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC), Samaritan’s PurseSalvation Army, and World Vision.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), the largest indigenous Christian church based in the Philippines held series of massive relief distributions and medical and dental missions to affected population of the storm to different parts of Visayas. The humanitarian mission was done under the “Lingap sa Mamamayan” (Aid for Humanity) project in cooperation with the Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation Inc., the INC’s charitable arm. The church conducted the largest walk for a cause in the world (walkathon) on February 15, 2014, dubbed as ‘Iglesia Ni Cristo World Wide Walk for Those Affected by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan’. The walk for a cause raised millions of money to help the victims of the super typhoon for the construction of their houses and shelters. The aim of the activity is to make the world understand that Haiyan survivors are still in dare need of help and financial assistance. Indeed, the world wide walk caught the attention of the world when it breaks two Guinness world records as the largest charity walk in a single venue (Manila, Philippines) with 175,000 participants, and largest charity walk in 24 hours for multiple venues (from Christchurch, New Zealand to Hawaii, USA) in 13 time zones, 54 countries, 24 hours with 519, 521 participants.
Celebrities such as David and Victoria BeckhamStephen ColbertKim KardashianDavid Guetta, and The X Factor contributed to the fundraisng. On November 26,iTunes released a compilation album entitled Songs for the Philippines featuring different artists, including Katy PerryMadonnaBob Dylan, and The Beatles. All proceeds will go to thePhilippine Red CrossOne Republic donated $100,000 on November 30, 2013. Other celebrities that offered their support included Linkin ParkThe OffspringAlicia Keys, and Justin Bieber.
On the day of his death, actor Paul Walker attended a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide, for the victims of the typhoon that was held right before his accident.
On March 11, 2014, a benefit concert called The Pinoy Relief Benefit Concert was held at Madison Square Garden in New York, City. Jennifer HudsonPentatonixA Great Big WorldPlain White T’sJessica SanchezCharice and REO Brothers performed. Special guests also included Dr. OzDante BascoBobby LopezKristen Anderson-Lopez and Apl.de.ap. 100% of proceeds raised directly went to the Typhoon Haiyan survivors. Pinoy Relief was created to help survivors and focus on three specific areas: restoring livelihoods, building classrooms and providing shelter in partnership with local NGOs, Habitat for Humanity Philippines and Operation Blessing Philippines. So you see, the society we live in today, everyone plays their part.
To sum it all up, my readers, typhoon haiyan was the strongest and deadliest, typhoon ever recorded. She caused a death toll in the thousands, destroyed buildings, cars, electrical lines and caused wide spread poverty. She was the thirtieth named storm of the 2013 Pacific typhoon season. She followed the natural path of development for all storms, but with a twist. She started off as a low pressure system on November 2nd, the next day developed into a tropical depression. On November 4th she became a tropical storm. Her strength increased and brought about rapid intensification, this brought about typhoon intensity by November 5th, and by November 6, the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre (JTWC) assessed the system as a Category 5-equivalent super typhoon on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale. Normally they stop at category 3, or 4, but she grew to a massive category 5 over night! She left nothing standing, and many lifeless, that is why I urge you to appreciate your life, and the life of others, don’t take it for granted. It could just be taken from you in an instance. Take care my readers!

Goal Setting Tips

articles googleplus 13pinterest 21facebook 7twitter 16                    shop-online-button-300x279  Contact-me-button-3  HomeButton

Goal-Setting-TipsAlright here’s what I want you to do for me. Get a pen and paper, and take five(5)- ten(10) minutes, to write down nine of your favorite goals, and one of your biggest goals. Now, analyze your paper carefully.
Now I’m sure half of you don’t even know how to begin to start, right?
Most of you don’t even know what goals you have for yourself, most of you could not be bothered, i suppose, and most of you still contemplating your goals. This is what I’m going to teach you right here right now, so relax, you have not failed as yet, even if you cannot even start. Goal setting after you sat down awhile and thought about it isn’t really that easy to set after all now is it? No its not! Before you can begin even jotting down goals there’s a very particular system you must use and in this system very particular steps must be followed.
” This system is called the SMART system “
” SMART is a mnemonic used by life coaches, motivators, HR departments, and educators for a system of goal identification, setting, and achievement. Every letter in SMART stands for an adjective that describes an effective way to set goals. “
  •  Specific – When setting goals, they should answer the highly specific questions of who, what, where, when, and why. Instead of the general goal, “I want to get into shape,” try for a specific goal, “I want to run my first half-marathon this year.”
  •  Measurable – In order for us to track our progress, goals should be quantifiable. “I’m going to walk more” is far more difficult to track and measure than “Everyday I’m going to walk around the track 16 times.”
  • Attainable – It is important to evaluate your situation honestly and recognize which goals are realistic, and which are a little far-fetched. Instead of, “I am going to be this nation’s Mother Teresa,” (while admirable) it might be more realistic to say, “I am going to volunteer four nights a week at my local soup kitchen.”
  • Relevant – Is this goal relevant to your life and to the “big picture” questions you have already asked yourself? Some good questions to ask yourself when figuring this out are: does it seem worthwhile? Is now the right time for this? Does this match my needs?
  • Time- related – Setting a “due date” to meet goals not only keeps you on track, but it prevents pesky daily roadblocks from getting in the way. Instead of saying “I’m going to get my college degree”, you might consider saying, “I’m going to get my B.A. in 4 years.”
After you have gone back to the SMART system mentally, you can begin jotting down your goals. Now before/while you are write always try to remember the big picture. Always try and ask yourself some important questions about what you want for your life. You don’t have to come up with some elaborate answers, the answer to this question can be as general as “I want to be happy,” or “I want to help people,” or “I want to be fit.” These general statements can help hone in on the things that really matter to you. Recognizing the things you value will guide your decision-making and keep you focused on your end goals. Think of the answers to your “big picture” questions. Ask yourself things like what do I hope to attain in 10, 15, or 20 years from now.set-goals
Then you got to break down the big picture into smaller more specific goals. Start to consider areas of your life that you either want to change or that you feel you would like to develop with time. Begin to ask yourself questions about what you’d like to achieve in each area and how you would like to approach it within a five year timeframe. In terms of your career, you may ask yourself what your ideal job is. What steps do you need to take to get that job? What are the roadblocks? Do you need a specific degree or certificate? With financial goals, you may want to consider where the money will come from. How much money you will need to live comfortably? What are the best ways to spend or invest money? Do you want a house, new car, or to begin a retirement plan? When it comes to family, do you want to have children, and if so, when? Do you want to have biological children, or are you open to be betteradoption or having step children? In thinking about romantic goals, you may consider the type of relationship you want (long-term partner, marriage, open-relationship, etc.), and how you will prioritize the time spent with a partner. What are the characteristics of a mate that make them a good fit for you? In terms of education, think about what course of study you’d like to pursue. Are you going to school to further you career? What types of courses do you need to complete for advancement at work? Are there alternate ways to enter the career you want, like apprenticeships or internships? In thinking about physical goals, consider whether changes need to be made to make you healthy. What can you do to maintain good health into old age? Think about whether there are specific physical challenges you want to meet such as a major mountain climbing expo or a marathon.
Then you got to make each goal a positive statement. Once you’ve done the brainstorming and considered how to make your goals SMART. Using positive statements is a direct way to affirm your commitment to completing your goals. If your goal is to run your first marathon in 8 career-goalsmonths, you can call friends who run for tips tonight, ask for shoe recommendations tomorrow, join a running club next week, and begin intensive training in 6 months.
After you should probably set prioritiesAt any given moment, you have a number of goals all in different states of completion. Deciding which goals are more important, or time-sensitive, than others is crucial. If you have a college interview scheduled on the same day as a training session for your big half-marathon, the interview would take precedent as it is far more time-sensitive, and probably more important.
This is a very important one. Always keep track of your progress! It won’t make any sense accomplishing goals and you don’t even remember what goals you accomplishing, now would it? Journaling is a great way to keep track of both personal and professional progress. Checking in with yourself and acknowledging the progress made towards a certain goal is key to staying motivated. Asking a friend with similar goals to buddy-up with you is a great way to keep you motivated and to make sure you hit your goal target dates. Consider pairing up with a fellow student facing the same application deadlines if you are applying for school, or another new, emerging artist if you are applying for artist residencies, fellowships, and grants.
Finally always remember to reward your accomplishments! This by far, is the most important tip to goal setting. You should always try to acknowledge when you have reached goals and allow yourself to celebrate accordingly. Take this time to assess the goal process–from inception to completion.
